One of the first exciting changes being made for the 2006 season is the introduction of Troll Points. The goal of Troll Points is to reward our NPCs in a new and exciting way. Many of our players NPC in order to accomplish a goal. If that goal is to level a character in safety we have rewards based on the event price paid. This is a great way to safely build up your character’s power or perhaps start a character with a more involved back story which in turn justifies your level. The other major reward was a chance at great items. While this certainly is appealing, the element of chance was too great. This adjustment will allow players to plan out their characters and rewards- and even have a chance at bidding for exciting items.

There are two main requirements to earn Troll Points. You must NPC a full Logistics period and you must perform 1 clean up task as set out by the Plot/Site team. As an example, during a normal event if you come and NPC right at game start and stay until 6pm then that counts as your logistics period. Let us say that you were assigned to unload the van at the start and help set up NPC camp. If that is your clean up task and you complete it then you have earned 1 Troll Point. As you can guess each normal weekend has 2 Logistics Periods and therefore the chance to earn 2 Troll Points.

What can you do with these points? At the end of every season, there will be the opportunity to participate in a silent auction. The items available for bidding will include unique rewards such as magic items and other fun stuff.

If you do not have enough points to compete in the auction (or chose not to) there are also other rewards which may be purchased at a flat rate. These rewards are of a good quality, but not as all out spectacular as the items available at auction. These are the sorts of items that will not cause balance issues if they are purchased repeatedly.

What’s the catch? At the end of every year everyone returns to zero Troll Points. Any players with left over points at the end of the season will be rewarded 20 Goblin Stamps per point. The reason for this is to avoid inflation- each year, everyone will begin on a new and level bidding field. Each player will have an equal opportunity to earn and equal number of Troll Points each year.

This system replaces all bag draws for NPCing. It will work in tandem with blankets received for paying to NPC system.

Rewards available for a flat price are available for purchase at any time. If one chooses to bid on an auction item and that bid is not successful, each unsuccessful bidder will have an opportunity to purchase rewards from the flat rate list before their Troll Points are converted into Goblin Stamps.

You're on plot? Holy crap! That's awesome!

I just might consider coming back to NPC sometime this season. However, as I've mentioned elsewhere, the earliest that I could possibly play would be the weekend in May, and even that would depend on other things that are going on that month.

Okay, then that's hopefully awesome. Either way, I'm still hopefully going to play at least once this season. I think I'm kinda rusty.

Okay...  Just making it clear.  So in your first post you siad that NPCs get these bag draws for doing certain things, but in the second post you have this line.

This system replaces all bag draws for NPCing. It will work in tandem with blankets received for paying to NPC system.

So are there no bag draws anymore?  Or can you opt out of draws for points?  Or...?

Sorry... that was a copy and paste error.

Yes, troll points have eliminated the bag-drawing.
